This book explores the United States and the many aspects if American life through a series of stimulating reading passages and carefully chosen photographs. There are 36 unites divided into sections such as The Making of the USA and Men, Machines and Millionaires, entertainment and the American way of life. Individual units include: The American Indians, The Frontier Spirit, New York: Yesterday and Today, America’s National Parks, Disney World, How Americans Eat and Drink, College Students, Getting Around in the USA, Hollywood. Exercises related to each passage are designed to build up vocabulary, comprehension, grammar and the student’s ability to use important functions, such as Asking for Information.
