This book covers the overview, installation and application of Microsoft Windows for use on IBM-type personal computers. In addition to the basics of using Windows and the supplied applications and utilities, the book includes a discussion of custom hardware setups with an emphasis on memory management, and a discussion of managing both DOS and Windows applications most effectively (i.e. when to use DOS and when to use Windows, and how to best share data betweeen programs). Also included is a discussion of utilities and alternatives to the Windows shell such as the Norton Desktop for Windows, New Wave, and WinTools.
