Days of Surrender

Setting off down a Dublin street where some of the dead still held white flags in their hands, Elizabeth O'Farrell was watched from the door by Julia Grenan, referred to in documents as her 'friend and lifelong companion'. She is concerned with how we come to imagine and understand ourselves from within our privacy and often uses video installation as a way to reflect on moments where this process, awkwardly and unavoidably, comes spilling into the public spaces of our lives.
