Couverture de International Capital Markets: An Introduction par Michel Van Den Bergh

Résumé

Présentation de l'éditeur This book explains in the clearest possible terms and with a minimum of professional jargon, the basic concepts which underly the mechanics of capital markets. It reviews the main features of the broad product categories which are traded in these markets, using practical examples to highlight the logic behind market phenomena, without too much emphasis on technical detail. No previous knowledge of financial techniques is required to understand the subjects discussed in the book, which can be used as a practical guide for students who wish to acquire a solid background in the field of international finance. The subject is also put in perspective through a description of recent trends and a short discussion of some broader issues such as market supervision and European integration. Biographie de l'auteur The Author : Michel Van den Berghe was born in Dendermonde, Belgium, and was educated at the Universities of Namur, Louvain and Trinity College, Oxford, where he obtained degrees in Law and Economics. He worked for 21 years with Morgan Guaranty Trust in Brussels and in New York, and was a director at Nomura Bank Belgium for 4 years. He recently joined ASLK-CGER Bank, the largest Belgian savings bank which is now part of the Begian-Dutch Fortis insurance and banking group. He is a General Manager responsible for Corporate Banking, a unit of the Financial Markets and Corporate Division. He teaches a course on International Capital Markets at the College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium, where he combines case studies with general background lectures on the subject.
