Présentation de l'éditeur
Twenty-five-year-old Jinni lives in Mumbai, works in a hip animation studio and is perfectly happy with her carefree and independent existence. Until her bossy grandmother shows up and announces that it is Jinni s 'duty' to drop everything and come and contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from their sleepy hometown, Bittora. Of course Jinni swears she won't. But she soon ends up swathed in cotton saris and frumpy blouses, battling prickly heat, corruption and accusations of nymphomania as candidate Sarojini Pande, a daughter of the illustrious Pande dynasty of Pavit Pradesh. And if life isn t fun enough already, her main opposition turns out to be Bittora ex-royal, Zain Altaf Khan an irritatingly idealistic though undeniably lustworthy individual with whom Jinni shares a complicated history... Enlivened by Chauhan s characteristic brand of wicked humour and sexy romanticism, this is a rollicking new tale of young India.

I would give this a five star! The incidents are hilarious and laugh-out-loud funny. The electioneering is very real too. Very few books manage to keep the reader so thoroughly entertained. If you are not much into chick-lits, dont be put off by the chick-lit - romantic sounding blurb. Its far more than just another romance novel. The liberal use of 'hinglish' may be a slight put off, so if you dont know hindi, you may be at a disadvantage. I rate this higher than 'The Zoya factor' for its humor! --Sue M Oct 12, 2011
I must credit this book for the fact that it brought me back to being a reader after a long long time. It is that good! The characters are great! the Hinglish which most people may have thought to be a negative for the book, gets a big yes from me. It made the characters a reality, especially the Ammaji! The book is sometimes so funny that it can make you actually laugh out aloud. On a serious note, this is the first time I actually came to know what exactly goes through the political circles, during the elections. The emotional stress of the uncertainty. The inner turmoil whether to be selfish or to be good (coz being the latter was going to cost them a lot of votes!!).Basically, it means there's a grey shade too, between white and black. The romance between the two main characters is worth a DisneyLand love story, a type you read in books and watch in movies, totally enjoyable. The only negative that I could find here (and may be its just me) was how the two main characters are dying to get sexually involved with each other, and keep day dreaming about it at the first chance you get. Altogether, this book is going to be in 'my most interesting reads' list. Go for it! --Ruhi Karwal Apr 9, 2015
