In this book we have chosen to chart a history of people and places in the past two thousand years. Each chapter focuses on a different part of the country and begins with a brief survey of more ancient periods. The book, in which texts by historians are accompanied by magnificent reproductions of art-works, archeological findings and landscape photographs, reveals Eretz-Israel in all its physical and spiritual splendor. A separate chapter is devoted to the history of the Jewish people in the Diaspora, which is also accompanied by reproductions of works of art and folklore. The variety of visual exhibits, the quality of the design and the punctilious printing and production create an artistic blend of form and content which accord the book a unique and spectacular appearance, as befits the glorious past of Eretz -Israel and the Jewish people.
