This is Lang Lang s complete Rachmaninov recordings, bringing together the DG and the early Telarc recordings, which capture the heart of Russian Romantic music. Lang Lang presents two of Rachmaninov s favourite concertos (nos. 2 and 3), the dazzlingly virtuosic Paganini Rhapsody and the deeply felt Trio élégiaque, in which he is partnered by Repin and Maisky plus a spirited performance of the great G minor Prelude.
The recording of Rachmaninov No.3 is from the BBC Proms in London from 2002- a breakthrough performance for the pianist, coupled with a live performance of Sonata No.2 in B flat minor at Seiji Ozawa Hall, Tanglewood.
