Paradise Lost

The greatest epic poem in the English language, Paradise Lost tells of the revolt of Satan, the foundation of hell and the fall of man. The poem was the culmination of years of creative thought and preparation for Milton and since its publication, it has inspired a wealth critical and literary reaction, imitation and adaptation. It remains one of the most vivid and majestic literary responses to the Bible.
