A former Children's Laureate, Michael Morpurgo has written more than 90 books; won the Whitbread Award, the Smarties Award, the Circle of Gold Award, and the Children's Book Award; and has been shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal four times. His titles include Great Boy Stories; Kensuke's Kingdom; Private Peaceful, which won the California Young Reader Medal in the Young Adult category for 2007-2008; and War Horse.
