Following the death of his wife and the loss of his barque "Aquidnek", Slocum was left with nothing. Rather than despair, he rebuilt a shipwreck and turned it into the ocean-going vessel "Spray", in which he departed Boston Harbor in 1895 to sail alone around the world. This is his account.
